Kevin Keegan vs Mike Ashley vs the top four

“The pair’s relationship is reported to have soured after Keegan claimed that Newcastle were unlikely to break into top four during his time in charge.”
Surely the fact that Newcastle aren’t about to breach the top 4 in the Premier League any time soon isn’t a surprise to anyone. Who the hell does Mike Ashley think he is?
He’s got more money than soft mick but doesn’t appear to want to splash it on world class talent. If he did he’d sort out the Toon’s shocking defense.
Oh, sorry Mr Ashley. Sorry for saying the truth.
When are we going to sit up and listen to people like Kevin Keegan. Say what you like about him he says it like it is and his views on the state of the Premier League are pretty much what we’re all thinking anyway.
Does Mike Ashley seriously think he can attract the cream of the world’s footballing crop to Tyneside without spending any money?
I mean how much would it cost to repair Newcastle’s squad? $50Million?
Truth be told I couldn’t care less. I’m no Newcastle Utd fan but up there they have huge expectations for their club. Expectations that might just be met if the footballing minded people were allowed the sniff of a blank cheque or two.
Mike Ashley. Dear god. What a prick.
This time last year Mr Ashley was quoted as saying “I am delighted to have this opportunity to invest in Newcastle United.”
But this is a football team. Invest for business and profit but also invest in your staff. Namely the playing squad and their immediate staff.
Keegan with money would turn Newcastle Utd in to an attractive attacking side. Short term they should be consistently rivaling Portsmouth or Villa on equal footing.
Of course we all know that in reality the North East is less attractive to glitzy Johnny Foreigner who has been dazzled by the lights of North/West London, Liverpool or Salford.

Totally agree - I’m no Newcastle fan either but Keegan speaks the truth - it will not only take money but a lot of time as well to challenge for the Premiership and make the Champions League.
Ashley not only needs to put up cash and give Keegan time - £50m might be ok this season to make a start but that needs to repeated year on year for 2-3 seasons minimum to build and shape a squad to compete with Chelsea and Liverpool.
I just wonder if Ashley has the stomach for that or if he deep down thinks that Keegan is the wrong man for the job and will force him out over the next few weeks.
