DOOM 4 facts
Production has begun on DOOM 4™, the next journey into the legendary DOOM universe. We are expanding our internal team and are currently hiring to work on this highly anticipated title.
“DOOM is part of the id Software DNA and demands the greatest talent and brightest minds in the industry to bring the next installment of our flagship franchise to Earth,” said Todd Hollenshead, CEO, id Software. “It’s critical for id Software to have the best creative minds in-house to develop games that meet the standards synonymous with our titles.”
The DOOM franchise is one of the most recognizable and important in gaming history, having been named “one of the ten most influential games of the decade” by PC Gamer and “the #1 game of all time” by GameSpy. DOOM 4 will join the award-winning series which has consistently topped sales charts throughout the world.
Following the quoted announcement from genre defining game creator id software that production has begun on DOOM 4 I thought I would offer some facts on the game.
- It will be beautiful.
- It will attract more hype and frenzy than any other game. Including Grand Theft Auto 4.
- It will divide gamers the world over.
- It will not include the features that YOU want in it.
- It will take a surprisingly short amount of time to develop.
- It will play like a dog.
It’s the last point really. The pretty pictures that don’t do anything to lift the lame in-game action. But, since I’m a huge admirer of the boys and girls at id here’s a few things I’d like to see in the game.
- Strong linear / level based action.
- Find the key - open the door.
- Terrifying Tsukamoto style visuals and a NIN soundtrack.
- A BFG that unleashes a thousand shots.
- Gibbed body parts that bounce off walls and floors with a blood trail and satisfying “RIPPING” sound.
- Double shotgun.
Come on guys. Let’s see a cracking game. DOOM is where it’s at.
