Boris Johnson. Mayor of London. Run for the hills.. ?
So London has a new Mayor. Ken Livingstone, a wonderful ambassador for the city - standing firm on every issue and accurately capturing the city’s mood and pushing its issues where necessary - is beaten in to second place by the “bumbling buffoon” MP for Henley.
But who is Boris Johnson?
Is he really the oaf that we all see him as? Is he the bumbling oaf that the media would have him portrayed as?
Who knows. But if his victory speech is any indication he is a perfectly articulate and complementary human being who, like Ken, appears to have the city at his heart. What’s more by the sound of things both Ken and the LibDem’s Brian Paddick appear to have won favour and may even find a role within Johnson’s initial advisory / handover committee. If such a thing exists.
Who knows.
I wonder, though, just how many of those votes were ‘curiosity’ votes.

…he’s a good performer.
The “real Boris Johnson” really isn’t a nice guy… I’m glad I don’t live in London.
My blog now reads RIP London. In my view, the only positive o arrive from the negative of BJ being elected is that it stopped Paddick getting in .. not that he ever had a chance.
